The Karsh Center and Wilshire have a long history of supporting the incredible programs taking place at the People Concern (formerly OPCC) in Santa Monica. The work they do to help our unhoused neighbors move into permanent housing is unparalleled. For years (pre-Covid) Karsh - with the help of Wilshire volunteers - provided sandwiches/lunches weekly for Sunday distribution to their clients. Karsh West re-started this program in September - and we need your help.
Beginning in Fall 2025, on the 2nd Thursday of each month (6:30-8:00PM), B'nei Mitzvah students and Wilshire clergy have been meeting at Karsh West on the Resnick Family Campus to make 175 sandwiches/lunches to be delivered to the People Concern on Friday, and distributed on Saturday.
We'd love for you to sign your teen up to volunteer! Please look at your calendar and register here for any/all of the upcoming 5 dates in 2025 (you can sign up for as many as you'd like!). It's that easy to help feed our neighbors in need - and work towards your 10 required B'nei Mitzvah community service hours.
Parents are welcome to stay and volunteer as well, or drop your teens off!
** Please note: If you register for a particular date, we'll count it as a commitment - so please select date(s) carefully.
For additional information, please email Navah Kelman Becker, the Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement (navah@karshcenter.org).
